About Us

An exciting, new slow- pitch softball league started in 2010! It is an opportunity for Madison, Wisconsin - area men, ages 55 & up, to play organized games on Wednesday and Thursday mornings against other senior men in a fun, safe environment.

GMSS promotes team play, good sportsmanship, and participation for all players. (See "GMSS Rules" above for the details.)

It is open to all teams from the Greater Madison area, and games will be played at Verona Community Park next to Eagles Nest Ice Arena.  See directions under the Announcements section.

Ken Clough presenting his wood carving to Blane Einbeck in appreciation for Smart Motors sponsorship of GMSS -September 2010.

Players from GMSS visited the Attic Angels Community on July 9, 2014 and spent time talking all things baseball. The visit provided residents a wonderful opportunity to learn about the league and talk with some of our players about their memories and actvities. Special thanks to all who participated.

The major focus of GMSS is to have fun, but because this is  somewhat competitive, we're looking for players with past experience playing softball.

PARKING - All Wed & Thu ballplayers at Veterans Park Diamond are to park in the street until further notice.  The parking lot is 'Off Limits' to GMSS.  It is being used by local children's programs and they need the parking lot for summer programs.

Smart Motors Meeting for all players and people interested in our GMSS Leagues is being held September 12 starting at 11:00 at Smart Motors on Odana Rd.  This will be followed at 12:00 by our Pizza Feed (Picnic to you traditionalists).  You are encouraged to wear one of your team jerseys.  We need to know how many players and others are attending, so inform your team manager by August 22 & 23.

As you are driving East on Odana Rd you will drive past the Smart Motors (5901 Odana Rd) building (new car showroom and oil change bays) and turn right into the parking lot driveway directly across from where Tokay Blvd junctions with Odana Rd.  Park in the empty spots towards the back along the 12/14 West Beltline.  This is on the same side as the showroom where we always meet and eat and is across Odana Rd from the Used Car lot where many of you parked last year.  Coming from Whitney Way you would turn left into the parking lot at the Tokay Blvd junction.

The Annual Golf Outing has been rescheduled to September 19.  Click the link below for information.
